IUI- Too Many Follicals. What are the options?

Anonymous
I had my monitoring this morning and they discovered that I have four 15mm follicles and a few smaller ones not that behind. I am so sad because I have a feeling that my RE is going to call it off. I am a SG patient. Does SG usually give options like follicle reduction or try your own? If this cycle is canceled, how long do I have to wait to start a new cycle? Thanks in advance.

How old are you? That's the biggest factor.

The good news is that if it becomes necessary to do IVF, you should have a good response.

Was this on Clomid, or injectables?

OP here. I am 33. Was on injectables.

They will probably cancel the cycle since you are young. You can ask your RE about follicle reduction procedure. You should start the next cycle as soon as your period starts provided that you have no cysts left from the current one.

OP here. SG nurse called and confirmed that this cycle is canceled. She said my RE wanted me to start the BCP right away. Obviously they worry about the multiples.

I am really sorry - honestly, infertility is hard enough, but canceling a cycle because you responded too well is really the pits -

How do you feel about multiples? I have to tell you that I'm fairly confident that I've gone ahead with a cycle with 4 follicles and guess what--BFN. But I'm okay with multiples. If you're okay with the idea (and there's no guarantee that one or all four will get fertilized anyway) I'd go ahead and go for it on your own without IUI. But that's me. I hate the idea of missing a cycle or an opportunity to get pg.

I would go for it, too. How old are you?

Yes, I would try naturally too this cycle because you don't know what quality those 4 eggs are - may be there are only 1-2 good ones? But of course, if you are totally opposed to the idea of multiples or selective reduction, then I would skip this cycle.
