My child is in 3rd grade and attending an AAP center that is not at her home school. She will also attend a JR High that is not her home school. If I understand the system correctly, she will then go back to her base high school. My husband and I were talking last night about how it all worked, and it got me thinking about a few things. I just had a few questions...
1. I was looking at the website for our base Jr. High, and noticed that they had Honors English, History, Science and Math. What is the AAP program like in Jr. High, and what would be different at her AAP school from going to the base school? 2. Although we have a few years before it becomes an issue, I am thinking that it is very likely that my child will not be applying to TJ, so if I understand the program, she goes back to her base HS and would resume school there. Does anyone have a child who has done this, and do the kids adjust well to returning? It seems like these kids will have been together for a few years at that point, and I know that some of them will be with her in her new school, but do they go in feeling like 'the new kid?' Does that make any sense? Does the AAP label just disappear at that point and they have to go through whatever is necessary for any advanced classes they want to take? Thanks in advance. I know that none of this is an issue now, I just figured that I would ask since my husband and I were discussing it. |
