Will boxed wine explode in my checked lugggage

Anonymous
Would like to bring some wine on an upcoming trip. Afraid a bottle will break.....do you think boxed wine would explode?
Anonymous
I doubt it would. The reason it keeps so well in the box is that it's actually vacuum packed in a plastic bag. There's not supposed to be any air in the bag, and my understanding is that things explode in flight due to changes in the volume of air--so if no air is involved, no problem.

Double bag it in xl zip locks and don't worry.

can it really be worth it to bring a box of wine?

For a 4+ day business trip, I'd do it in a heartbeat--nice to have something to wind down the day with in the comfort of my hotel room, and probably no chances to buy anything that's both affordable & decent. (I'm not talking a 3+ liter box, something in the 1-liter range.)

OP here, yes its worth it....going on a week long business trip, with no chance of finding something at my destination.
Want to make sure all my clothes wont be ruined.

Sounds like you are going to a country where alcohol may not be permitted?

Or perhaps it's just someplace where a wine store may not be nearby, or she doesn't know whether there are strange local laws re alcohol (like MoCo!), or the trip is programmed so tightly there's no good chance to get to a store. The last business trip I took was to Boston, and I carried a bottle of wine on the train.

Or OP is an alcoholic.

Please seek help! Can't you stay a week w.o it?

Uh, if she's an alcoholic, one box of wine in one week won't suffice, not by a long shot.

maybe just until she can find a local source...

Lol. Spoken like a person used to expense accounts. Have you priced the wine in the mini bar? They have some kind of actual radar chips on the food at Omni hotel rooms. If you even touch it, you pay for it.
