Not sure where to ask this, but please recommend a real estate agent dealing with Key school area

We're starting to look to buy a house and would like to find a good trustworthy agent to help us find a home so that DC can attend Key elementary, if that area is at all affordable for us. Any suggestions? thank you!

I had a good experience with Carol Temple of Coldwell Banker in Arlington.

don't trust a Realtor on schools. in fact, i wouldn't trust them on anything. do your own leg work and trust only yourself.

The Arlington one?

If so, Ingrid Wooten lives in Lyon Village, as does John Plank.

I live in Arlington Village, too, and we used Henry Hyde (ReMax) when we bought our house.

Your child can attend Key if you live in any of the neighborhoods assigned to Taylor, Jamestown, and Key/Science Focus School. That's a huge portion of North Arlington. You would need to fill out a transfer application form if you live in the Taylor or Jamestown district. Science Focus School is an option for families not interested in the language immersion program at Key.

OP here - thank you all! So if we live in Taylor or Jamestown and need to fill out the transfer application, are we still guaranteed to get into the Spanish immersion program? Thanks.

Yes. You should have no problem. I believe Science Focus is at capacity and transfers into that school may not be as simple as before. (See the related topic thread). But transferring into Key should not be a problem at all. I don't know what you mean by affordable; the sfh neighborhoods that feed into Taylor, Jamestown and Key/Science Focus are not at all affordable. There may be a few small, shabby craftsman bungalows in parts of Cherrydale near Science Focus, but they are increasingly hard to find. There are some nice condos in the area, however. And as someone mentioned, you should check out Colonial Village.

I went to a recent open house and it didn't sound to me that this was guaranteed.

Key is also the Spanish immersion school for the eastern half of the county. And many of its students come from Long Branch and other schools not in the Key/Sci focus, Taylor, Jamestown cluster. If you live in the "cluster" then you have the best shot of getting into Key (I suppose nothing is 100% guaranteed unless you live within Key's boundaries.) But, I haven't heard of any serious overcrowding issues at Key, and the school has been admitting students from other neighborhoods outside the "cluster."
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

David Lloyd, Weichert (I think)

I second the recommendation for David Lloyd.

Mike Pugh. He has tremendous knowledge and experience with Arlington, including the neighborhoods zoned for Key.

The "cluster" people have priority in the lottery over the Long Branch kids.
