Of course it is not illegal. But there should be some evidence of the loan being made in the first place. And Sara and Jim should produce that evidence. And, Joe can produce the evidence as well. When was the loan made? How was it made? Where are the bank transactions showing the original loan?
Or, maybe...... the note written in the memo of the checks was a ruse.
