Norwood waitlist

Did anyone get off of it? Does anyone know Joe many kids will be in the k cohort? Please don't tell me to ask admissions. I am just curious.

Like several schools-- I don't think they're going to their WL. Not yet anyway.

I know an assertive parent who appealed Norwood's waitlist decision, and got in. Could have been timing--she was in the AD's 'face' as an acceptance was declined. Don't know the details, but one minute they were waitlisted, the AD was called, kid was in....

Was this recent?

Either this a rumor from a jealous parent or an awful thing for Norwood to do. Both are terrible. What a wonderful world!

Rumor. No way it is true. Norwood admission people are extremely honest brokers.

By the way, 2 homerooms of 20 kids each (40 total) and 2 full-time teachers.

Meant each homeroom has 2 full time teachers.

I hope it's a rumor. For the 20 kids, 2 teachers, 2 classes. ......is that for next year or just in general?

I don't know about the 20 kids per homeroom part of the equation -but the 2 homerooms for K seems to be the new norm at Norwood - and then expanding the class in 1st grade to have enough students to fill 3 homerooms. (again, not sure how many kids in each homeroom)

I am missing something what is so bad about Norwood taking a student off the waitlist??

I think the surprise is not that they went to the waitlist, but the mother in the Ads face begging for a spot.

What could an assertive parent have said to cause admissions to change a decision on the spot. If such thing really happened, it shows the level of influence that parents can have on matters that should be internal. It is a worrying sign (if it happened).

Do you have this from the school? The goal used to be 16-18 in a K homeroom, which is the situation now.

They probably had to increase this number to accomodate assertive parents. I would say we should flood Norwood with calls to know the facts on class size.
