Anyone buy clothes from Boden?

I find their tops to run long through the torso and in the arms but otherwise items are true to size. The quality on most items is very good and there is usually a 20% off and free shipping/returns code available. End of season/pre-season sales also help with the prices. Their customer service is great, too.

I think they are true to size as long as you measure yourself, except as PP said, some of the blouses are a bit more low-cut on me than they should be. I usually have to hem the skirts/dresses since they don't have petites and I am quite short.

I was going to buy some dresses online (never shopped there before)..but they all had horrible online reviews...over and over again. People of all shapes and sizes were complaining about the fit. Does anyone who shop there regularly find this to be a problem?

I just purchased my first item from there - a dress. I was disappointed. It's super cute, very vibrant...but the fit was so wrong. Besides the straps being too long and the hips baggy, it was super long and dowdy? Anyway, it cost $50 to alter the thing in a way that looks semi-decent. I prob should have just returned. Oh! And what irked me the most was that after trying it on only three times (not even wearing it mind you), two of the beads on the bodice fell off. Craptastic. I REALLY wanted to like Boden - but I'm not there.

I bought a lot of clothes there for my kids when they were younger (under 8). Pretty much every thing I tried for adults did not work ... the sizes are inconsistent. Sweaters too tight. Pants too loose at waist. Dresses just cut strangely. Jackets too short. Etc.

PP here - have no idea why the machine changed the numeral "8" to a smiley face. My kids were under eight. Clothes good then. They don't like them now so I no longer order.

I shop Boden regularly and don't have the size issues that others mention. Not everything is a perfect fit and I do return, but as PPs noted, you can frequently find 20% off and free shipping/returns. I get more compliments on my Boden dresses and shirts than I do with any other clothes I own.

I have a Boden addiction. I'm 5'7 and 132 and size 8 bottoms and 6 tops fit me well. I read the reviews, and if there are too many negative ones I don't buy. I also wait for sales and free shipping. LOVE Boden.

I generally love the tops, dresses and skirts I've bought from Boden. I like the brighter colors, which are almost impossible to find in US stores these day.

The tops and dresses can be a little low cut on me. They do provide garment measurements, including neck drop, so it can be worthwhile to look at that number.

Some of the items they carry would look frumpy on most women. A few too many pleats and gathers at the waist, cap sleeves, unstructured and loose fits. But if you know what cuts look good on your body, you can avoid the ones that wouldn't flatter you. And if you order with the free shipping/free returns codes, you can always return an item without charge.

As for sizing, I find it fairly consistent with Ann Taylor, although the dresses seem to be running a tad smaller this year. I found that sizing up helps the dresses hang/drape better. I can't wear Boden pants as they are cut for a more hour-glass figure than mine; more like Jones New York, maybe? Yet I have some Boden skirts that fit really well.

Quality: I've been pretty happy with the quality. The one kvetch I have is that most of the "washable" tops are supposed to be laid flat to dry. For one thing, who has that much flat space available? If I'm doing laundry, these items usually got hung to dry, but if DH is doing laundry, they end up in the dryer. That means a few tops are now too short in the torso and arms for me.

I buy a lot of my clothes at Boden and have only returned one item that was too short and wide - I'm quite tall and slim but curvy. The clothes that I buy (t-shirts, sweaters, pants, dresses and skirts) fit me very well. I think you just have to buy what you know will work for your figure. I love the patterns that they have and the quality seems to be ok.
