Is very light brown spotting considered cd1?

Anonymous
Usually I spot for a few hours before red flow - but this time I am on day 2 of very light, sporadic brown spotting. This is 2nd period after miscarriage - the first period was about 4 days of light brown spotting and i was told by ob to consider this a real period. But for fertility treatment purposes - how do I consider this light brown spotting? I am calling clinic tomorrow, but I like to get other opinions.

Dominion considers spotting as day one of your cycle.

GW and Columbia consider first day of full flow (before 5:00 PM) cd #1.

sorry for the double post. btw, what RE/clinic do you use?

I use Columbia - I am just worried that this is indeed my period, as atypical as it is, and I was planning on this being an IVF cycle.

Funny how different clinics handle this.

PP here again. I would just go in for bw/us to ease your worry. Worst case scenario, they will tell you to come back tomorrow. Actually, my cycles have unfortunately been changing due to age =( so I tend to have less flow in general, and usually spot for 2 days before full flow, so I have begun to go in the 2nd day of spotting to make sure I do not miss anything important. Who is your doctor at Columbia?

Dominion told me full flow is day 1.

I've been told by Columbia that Day 1 is red flow. I get brown spotting (sometimes more than "light") for 8 or 9 days before my period and I don't count Day 1 until the flow turns red.

But, yes, call the nurse and ask for bw/sono since this is unusual for you. Good luck!
