What do you get out of going to Weight Watchers meetings? Do you take your kid(s)?

I've decided to join Weight Watchers and am trying to decide whether to go to meetings or do it online. I tried a few meetings years ago and didn't get a whole lot out of them, but in fairness I didn't go for long. If you go to the meetings, what do you like/dislike about them? Do people take kids to meetings or is that frowned upon?

I found the meetings to be fun and social and I learned a lot from other members -- good products, tips about managing points, managing my hunger. THings I didn't understand about the program were cleared up. I would definitely go.

Meet other fatties.

You can bring your kids. Many do. Just make a quick departure if they start getting fussy.

I find some meetings better than others. It depends on the leader and how good a fit they are for you.

OP here. Thank you!

The leader makes all the difference,IMO. If you don't like one,try a different location or time.

LOL. So supportive.

I don't really love the meetings (don't dislike them, I guess I feel neutral about them, but just don't like them enough to spend the time they require), so I rarely stay for them, but I do go in and get weighed in person, as opposed to doing it online. I find the accountability of getting weighed in person really helps keep me on track even if I'm not attending the meetings.

I found the meetings agonizing and/or irritating. But I'm not much of a "share everything" person.

I do the online program and like it very much. I've been on it for five weeks and lost 12 lbs.

I think if you're someone whose on the computer a lot so you can log things online (or on your smartphone) and have a good digital scale at home, I think it works fine.

This has been my experience as well. But I am an extrovert and have a great leader. I think those two things make a difference in how much you get out of the meetings.

At the meetings you get your "rewards" (stickers, charms, etc) for meeting certain goals. You also get good advice from other members, ideas about what to eat, etc. At a meeting in November we were given a wonderful list of point-friendly foods to eat over the holidays.
