good running shoes for super pronator?

Anonymous
Looking for suggestions for a new pair of running shoes for someone who over-pronates ridiculously. Have been running in brooks "ariel" for a while, but they are so heavy they drive me crazy.

I would go to a running store and get evaluated for shoes.

Op here. Thanks. I have been going to Georgetown running company for the last few years which is who recommended the shoes I have now, but I haven't really been to pleased with them. Anybody you particularly recommend?

Try Potomac Running in Cleveland Park (with cool electronic testing devices), or Fleet Feet in Adams Morgan. I am also a super pronator and I do well with Saucony's Hurricane Pro Grid - just bought my 3rd pair. I also had a pair of Mizuno Wave Alchemy that were pretty good - the Hurricanes just fit me a little better.

my podiatrist recommended fleet feet in adams morgan or a new running shop on P street (near whole foods) for an evaluation.

fwiw, he also told me to stop wearing shoes for over-pronators even though i over pronate. i DO NOT jog, though. i do cardio machines at the gym. he told me that they were too heavy and too rigid and that those things were causing me form problems.

I'm a super pronater and I've worn Saucony for over 20 years - I tend to go with the more expensive models. I'm 44 with no knee, ankle or other problems and I've been running 10-15 miles a week for that long!

OP here. Just went to Pacer's in logan circle and ended up with mizuno wave alchemy. Haven't done any serious running in them yet, but I will say that the store was great next time you guys need to buy running shoes. I tried on a zillion pairs and they taped me running on the treadmill in all of them. Really helpful sales people.
