Flying over Spring Break

Thinking about going to Sanibel Island next spring break (2012). I just checked the cost of an airline ticket to Ft. Myers over this spring break and needless to say, I am still in the process of picking my jaw up off the floor.

Is there a site that lists historical flight prices throughout the year? How early do I have to reserve the ticket to get a good price?

I bought my tickets at the end of October for a Florida trip this spring break. Just rechecked the prices last week and they are 5x what I paid.

i bought tickets for presidents day weekend in october and they were already expensive. i think you have to plan ahead for holiday weeks.

I actually think its too early to look - most airlines haven't put up their most competitive prices yet. I'd wait until the fall.
