I know this sounds crazy, but last night I had a dream within a dream. It was so weird! My father whom has passed away a few years ago was in my dreams telling me how much he misses me. I told him that I missed him too, but wasn't ready to join him. At the same time, I saw my best friend's brother in the background. Then, I called my best friend (still in my dream) telling her that I dreamt of my dad taking to me telling her the story. She then asked me if I saw anyone else like her brother I replied yes (but he's not dead in real life).
It actually feels good that I saw my dad and I feel like I REALLY saw him and talked to him. But, at the same time I'm a little freaked out! Especially about my best friend's brother because he's alive real life and know that he's going through some tough things in life right now. Is my dream trying to tell me something? |
| Yes, I've had dreams within a dream. I've also had dreams when I tell myself that this is a dream and it isn't really happening. Dreams do tell us a great deal but I don't know how to interpret them. My brother died about 20 years ago and I was so upset because I'd never told him how much I loved him and I regretted this so much. About a year later, I had a dream about him and he said, "don't worry, I always knew." It made me feel so much better and closer to him even though he is gone. |
Haven't you seen inception
I feel like I have had a dream within a dream but can't remember any details. Dreams are weird, I often times will rewind my dreams while I am in them if I don't like the way it is going, other times I have no control over what is going on. |

I have those a few times a year--not seeing dead relatives (but glad you got to revisit with your father!) but the dream within a dream thing, I actually "wake up" thinking "phew--what a weird dream" and I'm sTILL Dreaming--it happens several times and it starts to freak me out so much that I'm inside my dream and trying to move my arms so that I wake myself up. I usually end up moaning in my sleep and DH wakes me up and I feel unsettled. Still havent' seen inception--is it out on DVD yet?

| I've experienced this before, but only as a minor change in a recurring nightmare. |
