I loved it. Beautifully written and perfectly titled!

Loved it! I thought it was interesting, touching, and very well written. Makes me want to know more about both of them and their work, as I knew of them but was never a follower or fan of either. And I had no idea, before I heard of the book, that they had been a couple.

loved it. I hope she writes another memoir about the second half of her life. I thought there would be more about her music career but really it is about the process of becoming an artist (both her and Mapplethorpe) and the role of a muse in one's life.

I adored it - her writing was just beautiful. So lyrical (unsurprisingly, I guess) and so evocative. And I loved getting a window into late 70s NYC art/music scene. Fantastic.

I read it and really liked it. It was a very creative memior that gave lots of personal experience without feeling lurid and also reallyevoked the feel of the times in which she lived.

Patti Smith was on Charlie Rose a couple months or so ago. Nice interview. I think one of her songs is also part of a commercial for a mop.
