also -- is it necessary to get a prescription from a pediatrician for OT?

I think that Teri Kozlowski at ITS in Kensington is the best OT in the area for that age. She is absolutely amazing! If that's too far, the Leaps and Bound practice on Wisconsin (between Tenleytown and Friendship) is also quite good.

PP again. You may need a referral if you want your insurance to pay. However, the OT won't need it in order to start treatment.

OP--your insurance may require prior authorization for OT. Ours does. Our OT (who does not participate with any ins) does the prior auth for us. We get 60 OT visits a year and they dole out about 12-20 at a time. We are currently on our second prior auth already for 2011. I'm only saying this b/c you should find out BEFORE your first OT visit. Your insurance could deny you coverage if you don't follow their processes correctly. Ours did allow 12 visits before the very 1st prior auth. AFter the first time we needed prior auth in order to get any part of any visit paid. Just and FYI to help you avoid an insurance headache.
