A girl-friend of mine and I were talking about wanting to attend a seminar/training on learning how to better engage and encourage our preschool aged children to learn. We are not educators by training, but want to help encourage our children to love to learn. They already love to "play school" on their own and do worksheets etc., but neither of us feel like we know how best to channel this natural learning desire. I thought some of you experts on this board may know of a program/course/training we could attend to better educate ourselves.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions. |
I would love to know the answer. I am interested in a seminar or teaching DVD on how to teach a child to read. |
Hi,
My law firm hosted a parenting lunch seminar or series of lunch seminars by PEP. The Parent Education Program (PEP) offers seminars on a variety of parenting topics. They also have parenting classes. PEP has also been voted the Best Parent Support Group by Washington Family Magazine, and has received excellent reviews by the Washington Post. They offer a number of presentation topics, including "Positive Discipline," "Raising Responsible Children," and "Power Tools for Power Struggles." Patti Cancellier and her series was great and I used several of the methods she recommended for my then two year DS. Totally worked!! They are based in MD.
