Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)

We have kids in middle school and are trying to decide where to buy a house. We would like to ensure kids get a good, solid, challenging, broad education in high school. A lot of schools in nova would give them that type of education. What we'd also like to know is how each of the area schools - e.g. langley, south lakes, westfields, marshall - compares for admission to selective colleges - e.g. ivys, uva, top 20 colleges etc...
It's easy to see the curriculum and ap/ib choices, how well-off the average family is in these areas, the average sat scores - what's not clear is how many kids get into ivy's from these schools, how many get into uva, etc... - the tj numbers are more bandied about - but the numbers for "regular" high schools aren't. Anyone have specific information or impressions on college admissions from nova public high schools to selective colleges? |
