Any recommendations on shoes/shoe brand to get for a toddler (19mo) who walks well but still stumbles (especially when running)? Also, do you get shoes a little large at this age (e.g., half size up from what they measure)? |
We like the brand See Kai Run. And we do try to buy them with some room for growth but nothing excessive.

We also like See Kai Run. Stride Rite also has some early walker shoes, as does Robeez. They should be flexible (be able to bend them in half with one hand).
However, if he's still stumbling and isn't walking that well yet, you may want to stick with barefoot/soft soles for a little while longer. You don't want to buy big, because then he'll trip and fall. Buy what fits. |
Go to Stride Rite or Nordstrom and have him measured (I usually ask for a manager when we go to SR). A good salesperson can recommend different brands and which size to get in each brand. For SR, they usually take the kid's size on the measuring stick and go up half a size. Usually that's not "too big," just room to stretch out the toes.
Shoes should be lightweight and flexible--Robeez are good but not always practical if you want to go outside. |
I agree with this. Get fitted at a store and don't go too big or else he'll be stumbling. I swear by stride rite at that age. |
I dont have a ton of experience, but we are using pediped flex and like the fit, the style, and the fact they are machine washable (cant say if others are, too, though). |
Something nice and flexible. Pediped flex and most See Kai Runs are great. |
