Has anyone used Dreams Unlimited (ad from the dis boards) vice booking directly with DCL? Thinking of doing the Carribean sailing in Dec to celebrate my DS' 5th b-day and would love any feedback.
I'm prone to motion sickness and this is our first time.....I'm assuming Dramamine will be sufficient to enjoy our trip. |

My friend just did a Disney Cruise a few months ago and LOVED it. I can't wait until we can go!
As for the motion sickness, I would suggest Sea-Bands (wear on wrists, works on pressure point that reduces nausea) or the scopalamine patch (prescription; it's a patch that you place behind your ear and can wear for several hours or up to 3 days). |
| I used Dreams Unlimited to book at Disney vacation and was very happy. |

most people really do not get seasick on the large cruise ships unless the water is unusually rough - December is a month in which it could be a bit rougher (than April/May for example) but it also may not be rough at all. Try to book a cabin somewhat low down and mid-ship to minimize your exposure to the movement of the ship.
I've been on a number of cruises and particularly in the Caribbean have typically been totally unaware the ship was even moving. |

OP: I have another follow-up question. Do you really get to see much of the Caribbean on a cruise? I'm wondering whether we should go for a shorter 4-night cruise and spend 3-nights at WDW pre-cruise instead.

| PP For the short cruise you really don't see much of the Caribbean. We did the 3 nighter and spent the first day at sea. Arrived at Nassau the second (which if you only have small children really isn't worth much more then checking out the shopping district right around the port). The wife and I dropped the kids off at the Kid's Club (where they preferred to spend several hours anyway) and saw a movie on board and had a couples massage. However the best day was day 3 at Castaway Cay snorkling, swimming, and bike riding. then back to Florida. We enjoyed it after spending 5 days at the WDWR first so it was a nice relaxing end to our vacation. |
I personally don't get seasick, however the mother of the family that we shared a table with tried the Sea-Bands and she said that she was ok as long as she was moving but when she sat down to dinner she started to feel a bit uncomfortable |
| We just returned from a 4 day cruise on the new Dream and it was wonderful! My DS and I sometimes get motion sick so we took dramamine daytime or bonine (they are 1/2 the dose of full strenth dramamine). We took a few hours prior to sailing and then each night before bed. I definitely think it helped. We also had a cabin mid ship. Castaway Cay was wonderful and I wish we had done a longer cruise. We have been to WDW a number of times and we liked this better -- they definitely are different. Are you looking more for sun & beach or amusement park? |

OP: we just booked 3 nights at WDWR and then 4-night cruise on Dream.
Any tips for our vacation? Things you wished you were told vice what was in the brochure. |
| Any tips from parents for the Disney Dream cruise -- particularly from families with a non-potty trained child as well as older, potty trained ones (specifically, the pool, which the non potty trained are prohibited from using -- for obvious reasons). What activities are there for the littlest ones? |
