Parent referral AAP decisions/Magnet school decision

Sorry if this question has been answered. I searched the archives to no avail. I submitted a parent referral for AAP for my 3rd grade son this year. Does anyone know when the decisions can be expected?

I also submitted a magnet school application for both of my sons (deadline was much later) and wondered about what to expect for this as well.

I should clarify, the Magnet Application was for Hunters Woods in Reston.

I don't know about the magnet applications, but the AAP decisions are supposed to be sent out anywhere from 4/18 - 4/22. So you'll probably see them right after spring break.

I thought the magnet schools were by lottery only.

Indeed, the magnet application was to enter the lottery. I am awaiting the decision to see how we fared in the lottery.

I think Hunters Woods is unique in that it is a magnet school for arts and sciences and also a AAP center. I am curious about this school. Does anyone know how the programs there are?

I know from the magnet info session I went to at Hunters Woods that the magnet program and the AAP program are separate. If your child gets into the AAP program they have to go to their designated AAP school even if they are in the Hunters Woods magnet program already. the cannot stay at Hunters Woods and transition to the AAP program because they only have space available for the AAP students that are districted for their school and the other schools the are affiliated with.

I believe magnet lottery results are supposed to come out at the beginning of April.
