Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)
| DH and I have two little ones who are not in school yet and are looking to purchase a new home in either Chantilly or Herndon. We want a home in a pyramid that is perceived as desirable in the event that we need to sell or rent our home within 5 years. We are interested in homes that feed into Chantilly or Herndon highschool. If anyone has any insight on how desirable these homes would be to future buyers/renters please let me know. Thanks! |
There's not a lot of difference between those schools. Perceptions of "desirability" in this area amount to nothing more and nothing less than standardized test scores (higher is good) and percentage of lower-income students (higher is bad). Judged by those rigid criteria, Chantilly is "better" than Herndon. However, the reality is that homes in both districts generally would be desirable to future buyers or renters, if fairly priced, given their location near jobs along Dulles Corredor and in Tysons. |
