11MO at La Tasca?

Anonymous
Can I take an 11MO to La Tasca at 5:30 on a Friday? We've been invited, but from my last visit there I would have thought it was a little too nice for my DS. He's pretty well-behaved, and we have no problem taking him outside if he DOES make a fuss, but I'd rather not make any waves. I know DCUMers will tell me what they REALLY think. Thx.

Yes. That place is not fancy.

Do your friends expect that you will bring DC? 5:30 isn't bad for a Friday. Please just don't bring a baby after 7:00. That's adult time and you will make waves.

Why does everyone feel the need to state that their DC is well behaved? All parents understand that a little kid can make a fuss at anytime for any reason, especially at a restaurant or on a plane.

hmm... you might run into the happy hour crowd. Then again, if you do, they'll be way louder than your baby can be!

Perfectly fine. We've been to La Tasca with our kids (young) often. It is actually a pretty good place to go with kids b/c tapas tend to come out very quickly so you aren't waiting around for food for long.

La Tasca is not at all fancy. It's basically like the Tapas version of Cheesecake Factory, and 5:30 is very early.

Go for it! No one there in their right mind will care.

P.S. I don't yet have children (pregnant now), so this is coming from a childless perspective

Oh god. Here we go again.

La Tasca? La Tasca is a fun restaurant. It is a chain. It is not the White House. It is not The Inn at Little Washington. If you can't take a baby to La Tasca at ANY TIME of night... I don't know what the world is coming to. I mean, really, its not like you're taking him to an evening performance of Wicked!

La Tasca is very casual. I wouldn't ever wonder whether I could take my toddlers there (as long as my dining companions were on-board.)

OP here, thanks for the helpful responses. I've only been there once and it was before I had my DS, so I wasn't really thinking about it from a kid-friendly perspective.

OP again--I guess what I meant to say was generally not fussy nor fazed by new environments/crowds/strangers/etc. At this age, it's not intentional behavior on his part, but I know a lot of babies/toddlers are not as easygoing. (And yes, I am grateful.)

Are you definitely talking about La Tasca, vs. Tosca which is different?

Also, why was this moved out of General Parenting? It's clearly parenting-related, and it took me forever to find the new location.

Yes, La Tasca, not Tosca. I would definitely NOT take my DS to Tosca.

La Tasca is very casual (and bad food)- just request a corner- they tend to sit parents with young kids away from the crows or close to each other anyway <-- that part in most restaurants for what we've experienced and we go out a lot. funny how all people with kids are all sitting near each other..
