I bought a house in Kensington Parkwood cluster recently.
We needed to hurry to close the deal, so couldn't visit the school before we bought. When I checked the school web site, the percentage of our ethnicity was very small. I am ok if the majority is friendly to the minority. Do you know the atmosphere of this school? Is there any prejudice toward minority? My dd will be in 1st grade. Thank you in advannce. |
When are you moving to the neighborhoood, this school year? We are a 'minority' family at KP, and have had no issues. There was a wonderful international night that celebrated many nations and cultures--very well attended. That is a small example of the community's efforts to be inclusive (if not able to be physically very diverse) We feel that the school reflects the neighborhood, and as a diverse family, would love to see it diversify even more; ) |
Ditto to the PP. We are out of boundary minority in KPES. DS was in the magnet program, moved to KPES. Much better staff and the secretaries are much nicer than the ones in TPES. Teachers are more understanding, so are the other parents. my guess, you will like the school, don't know the neighborhood as don't live there. |
OP here. Thank you for the encouraging comments.
We look forward to going to the KPES! |
How does your child go there out of boundary? Not judging, just curious of the process. |
Majority! Minority! These days, ya need to check your population records and see who the minority really are. Why would you move to a place you know nothing about? Most important thing is your child, and that should have been the first issue. |
They know plenty about the place they are moving too--it has the house that they wanted, and is in a nice area. Saying the OP did not make "the first issue" their child is rude and incorrect. Who's to say if responses had been negative, the OP didn't have a ton of other options? |
Welcome to the neighborhood, OP! |
