Combo washer/dryer

Anyone have a combination washer and dryer?

If yes, are you happy with it and which brand do you have?

We are thinking about getting one of these for our condo since we don't have space for the side by side one's or the stacking kind.

Well, I am sorry to say, we have an LG SensecleanD and I hate it. It was in the house on the top floor when we bought it. It makes the clothes smell funny - not fresh like our awesome Neptune washer dryer in the basement (also here when we bought). I have tried everything but I think its just because of the way it dries clothes. It also takes forever. We are replacing it with a stackable Meile so we will have the convenience of 2 sets.

I considered one, but they got very poor online reviews. I did not read one good review, except for some fair reviews from single people. They are particularly bad if you put more than a few articles in. They also take over 2hrs to dry clothes...an energy hog.

i used to have one...agree that it takes way too long to dry clothes. i used to have to hang them to dry.

I had one when I lived in London... and decided after a few weeks that we had to buy a separate tumble dryer to stick in the spare room because the drying function was just not satisfactory! However, I will share links to a couple of machines I'm considering now that I'm trying to install a separate under-the-kitchen-counter washer and dryer in my 1914 condo. The washers can be installed anywhere a dishwasher can go. These two dryers run on 110 electricity and need an outside vent: http://www.compactappliance.com/SPD1200-Summit-Compact-Vented-Electric-Dryer/SPD1200%2Cdefault%2Cpd.html?mtcpromotion=CA%20Shopzilla%3eAppliances%3eLaundry%3eDryers

There are more options if you want a ventless dryer, but they work according to the same principle as the combination machine, so I think I'll stay clear. (I hear they're somewhat more effective, though). The advantage is that a ventless dryer can be installed almost anywhere in your home. Maybe you can put a washer in the kitchen and a ventless dryer in a closet?

Anyway, there *are* separate under- the- counter options to add to small apartment kitchens. They're just not easy to find in the States, and especially in this city where people are not accustomed to making space compromises.
