Hey- can anyone recommend a weight loss retreat for an adult? I'm looking to get away this summer and kick start a healthier lifestyle. I've only got a week or two away from the family, and my body is just falling apart!
Newsweek had an article on these programs in the last month. I'm afraid I don't know exactly when it ran, since I only read magazines 3 minutes at a time (in the bathroom!) and they tend to pile up all out of order. Definitely in the last month, though.
Ha! The google ads on the page all changed to "weight loss camps" when I opened your message. Help jsteele out, click the google ads!

I highly recommend Red Mountain Spa in St. George, Utah!!! http://www.redmountainspa.com/
It's a posh place that's much more affordable in the summer because of the crazy hot weather. I went a few years ago in August/September and the heat didn't spoil my fun one bit. Everyone just shifts to an early schedule (think sunrise hikes) and then chills in the pool or in indoor exercise classes during mid-day to escape the sun. Anyhoo, Red Mountain was originally a weight loss clinic and is now a full-service spa retreat with a bend towards nutrition classes and healthy eating. I learned A LOT about nutrition and my own eating habits when I was there - and yes, I lost weight. The food is absolutely delicious, and though it's not officially calorie restricted, all the nutritional information is provided in a way that encourages you to eat well. I just checked out the website -- they have specific weeks each month devoted to weight loss retreats: http://www.redmountainspa.com/_specials_packages/ReEnergizingWeightLoss2008.html One final PS -- I flew right in to St. George (connected through Salt Lake or Denver, I forget), but it may be easier to fly to Vegas, rent a car and drive a few hours. Good luck wherever you decide to go. Please report back afterwards!!
