Schools and Education General Discussion
I know that public schools have to test (sol testing etc.), are private schools regarded as being more efficient at teaching to learn instead of teaching to test?
Yes, I think they are. However, I think that they do indeed teach to the test but don't admit it. Some also spend a tremendous amount of time on preparation.
Private schools don't have to take the same tests, as far as I know. And they aren't under threat of anything if their kids DON'T pass tests. Public Schools and Private Schools operate under entirely different rules. You really cannot compare the two.
Private schools don't take the SOLs, so they don't teach to them. Many private schools do have students take standardized tests for their own internal tracking/information, although it is usually less "high-stakes" and therefore there is less "teaching to the test."
