I don't think Walker's right to take a sledgehammer to things, but just watching what's happened in Mont County w/ the schools (where they have REFUSED furloughs and so presumably would force the county into firings instead) and what my mom, a state worker in PA, has seen with her union similarly absolutely refusing to do furloughs or small cuts across the board favoring instead that people lose their jobs entirely, has made me believe that things DO need addressed in terms of the rules related to hiring/firing and related decisions.
