Rep. Bachmann -- Wrong Concord

Anonymous
MANCHESTER, N.H. -- U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, head of the Tea Party caucus in Washington, is making a two day, campaign-style trip through New Hampshire.

Her visit Saturday got off to a bit of a choppy start when she told a crowd at an event sponsored by the Republican Liberty Caucus that New Hampshire was the home of the first shot of the Revolutionary War.

"You're the state where the shot was heard round the world at Lexington and Concord," Bachmann said.

I think she's one of the more hateful figures in our nation, but I suggest we not go into a paroxysm of criticism over this trivial goof-up.

Yeah, but she does this kind of thing all the time. Last month, she said our foundering fathers toiled to abolish slavery.

And she holds herself out as a person who is trying to follow the founders' principles. And yet she is the one organizing classes on the constitution for the new Freshman tea partiers in congress.

If the founders are so important to her political philosophy, she should have a solid working knowledge of the history from 1773-1789. Her continual gaffes suggest she does not.

So we have noticed.

With all due respect, I think that when a liberal like me suggested in an earlier posting that we not pile on about Bachmann's gaffe, it's very different from an extreme piler on like you implying that she should be left alone. BTW, she herself tried the same tack of bringing it back to Obama by making a reference to his prompter. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and call it a joke. But then, around here, you're a joke too.

It is a comment on America.

Then I guess the comment will mean different things depending on what you think of her.
