I have heard that unisom is safe once in awhile during pregnancy. I have horrible insomnia right now. Have others taken this? (Note, it is maximum strength gel caplet, which seems to be different than the other kinds.) |
I'm not sure about Unisom in particular, but at my last OB appt. (when I was almost 29 weeks), my OB recommended Tylenol PM. I've been having back pain that has interfered with my sleep. |
The active ingredient in Benadryl is the same as the one in most sleep aids. I believe Benadryl is on the approved list for second trimester, but you could always check with your doc. (also, it is cheaper if you buy it as an antihistamine) |
Some docs recommend taking Unisom for nausea and vomiting. Although that may not be relevant to you, it was recc'd to take. |
My doctor recommended both unisom and benadryl. Don't know about the extra-strength pill. I had to break the regular ones in half, and even then, felt groggy the next morning. |
