Food, Cooking, and Restaurants
| I'm taking my husband to Blue Man Group for his birthday in a couple weeks and need to find a place for dinner afterwards. We've been to Chef Geoff's, so not there. Haven't been to Occidental in a while -- still good? Others I can think of -- Bobby Van's (might be a bit pricey, plus we did Bourban Steak fairly recently for our anniversary), M&S Grill (have been many times but not recently), Ceiba, Oceannaire (have been a couple times), Brasserie Beck (would reallly like to go here, but might to take a cab from the theater). Thoughts? Other ideas? |
| Central. Rasika isn't too far. Maybe J&G Steakhouse (which has a lot of non steak options). |
| Gallileo III on 14th. Potenza at 15th and H. Georgia Brown's on McPherson Square. |
| Chef Geoff's is right across the street. |
Did you read my post? I said not Chef Geoff's (we were just there recently). Any thoughts on Proof or The Source? They aren't exactly around the corner, but probably walkable, and I've heard good things. I'll check out the other recs too. |
| J&G Steakhouse in the new W. Cafe du Parc in the Willard. Both just a block/block and a half away and both are well-reviewed by the critics. J&G might be more of a man-place. My husband tends to automatically reject restaurants whose menus are in French. |
| PP here, the Occidental is sub-par. It's like Old Ebbitt Grill but more expensive and without the charm. I forgot Galileo III (pricey though) and Potenza for Italian. Potenza has great ambiance and I like the food better than Galileo. (I work in the area, that's why I know about all of these restaurants!) Also, you mentioned Proof--very good and the Source--good but not worth the walk or the money. |

Last time we went to something at the Warner, we had dinner at Tosca beforehand, and it was delicious. Their pre-theatre menue is a great deal, and they made sure to get us out in good time.
I also echo PP's suggestion of Central. |
| OP here. Thanks everyone. I had made a reservation at Central, but when I checked out Potenza (which I had never heard of BTW), it looked so good that I decided to switch our reservation. It sounds so yummy, can't wait. |
