Eczema

Anonymous
Has anyone else out there had problems with eczema during pregnancy? I always got a little bit of eczema on the inside of my arms during the winter time when it was dry and I was wearing long sleeves. However, this year I have it BAD now in May which has never happened. I'm guessing this is related to the pregnancy since its been humid and it hasn't gotten better. I have been using Eucerin cream but the itching is driving me crazy! My next OB appointment isn't for another three weeks, but since I am not even sure this is pregnancy related I am debating making an appointment with my primary care doctor. Anyone had this problem too?

Yes and I am going crazy. I didn't have problems with my 1st pregnancy as a matter of fact my skin was great! I am in my 2nd pregnancy now and my skin is ridiculous. I am actually making an appointment with my dermatologist today because it is out of control. I thought I had a handle on it but no luck. I have tried to limit showers to every other day, lotion in morning and evening, steroid ointment on trouble spots, it's just not touching it. I have had eczema since I was an infant so there are definitely flare ups that don't respond to typical treatment anymore. It is rather frustrating. Sorry I have no advice but wanted to reassure you - you are not alone!

I was actually wondering about this too. I have psorasis on my scalp and wasn't sure if I could use topical steroid creams to treat it. I've been using scalp oil overnight to help soothe the itching...but it's gotten really bad...i'm definitely giong to talk to my doc about the safety of steroid creams during pregnancy at my next appt.
