so tell me, where in potomac can we get decent takeout/delivery? or does suburbs mean i have to cook every night?

Potomac is bad. If you are in the western section of Potomac there is some good Chinese Food off Travilah RD before Travilah ends into Darnestown Road. Gui Lin and Michael's Noodles is good. Cava is in Travaille Gateway right off Shady Grove Road. Take Piney Meetinghouse until it runs into SG and then a few lights up you can turn into Travaille Gateway.

Oh I hear you!! We're new-ish to Bethesda/Potomac and I can't believe the lack of take-out and restaurants. Can't believe it...trust me take-out-chinese was practically a food group in our family b/f this move.
Someone, please, start a delivery restaurant nearby.

Rockville has amazing food, but in culinary terms Potomac is very bad.

Everyone I know in Potomac comes out to Rockville for take out. You could also look online at take out taxi. They deliver from multiple restaurants in the area for a fee. I think they cover Potomac, but you can check for sure by entering your zip code.

Takeout Taxi delivers bad food no matter where you live. You are SOL in Potomac unless you want to travel.

River Falls in Potomac Village has excellent prepared food but it is pricey. Across Falls in Potomac Promenade is Potomac Pizza which my kids love. My dh and I used to veto it but have to admit it has been growing on us after a few years here (moved from out of state) due to the lack of good pizza options around here. We just pile on the veggies. Fortune Garden (Asian/Chinese/Japanese) in Potomac Promenade is also supposed to be good but I haven't ordered from there. I also know people like Jade Billows in Cabin John for Chinese. We also like the new Elevation Burger in Park Potomac. We've tried Zoe's Cafe there too (Park Potomac). Both are good for quick weeknight carryout. Oh, and a new Brooklyn Deli opened in the mall next to Park Potomac off of Seven Locks. So things are starting to get better...

We often get Potomac Pizza on Tuesday nights with a 2nd cheese pizza for $1. Another great pizza delivery is Vince and Dominics (near Montgomery Mall).

No "suburbs" does not mean you have to cook, it is Potomac which doesn't have a very extensive eating out /carry out selection. Wheaton and Silver Spring have a million places to get carry out. Mmm lots of good food. I don't miss living in Potomac at all. When I lived there it was worse in the way of places to eat.

OP -- yes suburbs means you have to cook just like "Leave it to Beaver". Move back to the city -- it's much more fun.
