Bethesda Country Day feedback - candid, please?

I am planning to send my son to Bethesda Country Day -- he's 4 but has a late fall birthday -- for part of the summer camp and fall 2008 sessions. I toured on an open house weekend, and the classrooms seem fine but not spectacular. I wasn't able to get a real sense of the teachers and the 'feel' of the school. We just moved off cap. hill in DC, and the program my child is in now is terrific -- but I can't do the commute one more year, and most of my son's comrades are moving on to K or other private 'late' pre-K programs. I just saw a couple of very negative comments about BCCD and am now looking for some feedback from parents whose kids actually attend (or attended). Thanks in advance! (We live very close to Wyngate school and are planning on sending him there for K on up -- and part of the decision to send him to BCCD was so that he could meet some of his K classmates, as I think a lot of the kids at BCCD go on to Wyngate.)

I may be wrong, but thought it was essentially a day care?

I have a friend whose children go. She's been happy with it. I think of it as a neighborhood preschool, one whose greatest virtue is convenience. She described the 2's program as "tons of diaper changes," which sounded a little utilitarian, but her kids are great and smart and have developed well.
