McCain would not have been any better. The economy would have been the same or worse. There would have been no health care reform, but that might have been a good thing. We would have troops in Libya, and troubles there.
It says something about our politics, when all candidates can't fix anything, partly due to beaurocracy and special interest groups. Let's face it NO ONE will ever control Wall Street. No one will do a thing about illegal immigration. Apathy. |
We need a Reagan. It's the only hope for our country. |
Agreed. I don't think Obama's been a wacko left-winger at all (you can tell because all the true lefties are irate at him for not being with them) but the republicans have gone so far off the deep end that they have worked hard to make Obama sound crazy and to try to paint it as if the economy could have been turned around on a dime. In reality, we needed bigger stimulus and to move it faster to projects that would actually make a difference (that's not necessarily money to states to avoid furloughs). I doubt McCain would have been the one to do that so I think if anything that the economy would be worse under him since there was no stopping the train wreck from happening - it was simply a question of what do you do once you find yourself in the hole? And I do LOVE how the republicans have worked over time to try to shift focus away from the fact that the greed and lack of regulation on Wall Street drove us off the cliff. Heads have not rolled for that and I find that a real shame. |
