Specific Korean Food Request in Rockville/N. Bethesda (Kimchi chigae)

Anonymous
I am craving KimChi Chigae. The place that I used to get it take out downtown has closed. Can anyone recommend a place to get it in Rockville/ N. Bethesda? I'd prefer take out, since I don't think I am going to get my husband into a restaurant that serves kimchi. TIA.

Hmm... try this place on Viers Mill Road. It's not closed, just under a different name. I don't know if they have kimchi jigae, or do it carryout, but they'd probably be your best bet.

If that doesn't work, my second recommendation would be to try the food court-type areas of the grocery stores in Wheaton (Lotte Plaza and H mart). Or Woomi Garden in Wheaton, but I don't know if they have it on the menu either.

Try calling before you go. They don't have menus up online.

Actually, this one is probably a good bet because I see a review that says they had their kimchi jigae. It's in Glenmont, just straight down Randolph Road for N Bethesda/Rockville.

for jajangmyun in MD, i would go to da rae won in beltsville, a little further out. http://www.yelp.com/biz/da-rae-won-restaurant-beltsville
there used to be a good place in wheaton, but it closed.

and of course for soondooboo, there's "lighthouse" or vitgoel on twinbrook parkway. and a little further out north, there's arirang on gude drive.

Hwaro on Rockville Pike is good, and I'm Korean:

Vitgoel on Twinbrook might have kimchi chigae as well.

Woomi garden in Wheaton is another option:

This is where we go for Soondooboo Jigae, too. I didn't know the Jajangmyun house in Wheaton closed, though it's been years since we went! My Husband (Korean) craves it like crazy sometimes, heh.

yeah, the building is still there but it's closed. fortunately, Da Rae Won in beltsville is pretty much an exact replica (foodwise) of what Dae Sung Gwan had.
