We're hosting a slumber party for our daughter who's turning 9. This is our second slumber party and I'm trying to think of some things to do with the girls that will be a little different from last year. I definitely want to keep them busy as there are some strong personalities in the group and I don't want to give them time for any "drama" to crop up. We'll definitely watch a movie towards the end of the evening.
I'd like to avoid the whole nail polish/spa theme and try to do something more creative and active. I liked the idea of a scavenger hunt that was on the original thread about slumber parties for 9 yo boys, and I'd love to hear some other ideas like this. We could do a craft, but I wouldn't want it to be too intricate or messy. Any fun twists on charades or BINGO? I am NOT creative so any assistance is definitely appreciated. I suggested the make your own pizza and cupcakes idea to my daughter, which she nixed (I have no idea why, it sounds fun to me!) TIA |

talent show - singing and dancing, American Idol style with 3 judges who have enough kinds of awards so everyone gets one award.
makeup and hair styling table painting white t-shirts scavenger hunt sounds like fun. I think that would be a big hit. |

I like the fabric paint idea. The t-shirt can then be the girl's party favor. Scavenger hunt is fun depending on the number of girls and the size of your house.
A game like charades or pictionary? Active and engaging. Mom and Dad can be team captains. If not baking cupcakes or pizza, maybe make your own sundaes for dessert unless you're doing birthdaycake. |

You can also do fabric paint on pillowcases.
Sliced sugar cookies with toppings to decorate are good to have in your toolkit. |
| if you don't already have a kareoke machine, I would suggest the investment. Kids love to sing and you can do the american idol idea another PP suggested. The scavenger hunt is a great idea. a neighbor has an annual party around halloween and the girls run through the neighborhood (we have a block that is like a T with a cul-de-sac on each end of the T). The girls have a blast as they run around in teams. |
