Transportable "light supper" suggestions

A friend is having surgery and I've offered to help however I can. She asked if I could prepare and deliver a "light supper" for her family, which means her, her DH, and my friend's mom. (My friend has a kindergarten-age son but apparently he will only eat noodles and the like, so she said not to worry about whether he will eat.)

At the time of food delivery she will have just arrived home from the hospital, so I have no idea what her appetite will be like. If she has any appetite, however, I'm guessing it would be for fairly simple, not spicy, not heavy food.

Whatever I make has to be fairly easy to transport, and to heat up (as needed).

Any suggestions?

Maybe you could go to a Marvelous Market or Whole Foods and pick out a few different gourmet sandwiches/sides so people have different options? That is a pretty "light" supper. Whatever you do bring, I would also include a loaf of Italian bread in case your friend wants something plain.

Lasagna is easy and can be re-heated several nights. Bring ingredients for everyone to assemble tacos.

I would make a simple soup, salad, and some sort of starch (or maybe a quiche)

What about a roasted chicken (either made yourself or store-bought) and some sides - maybe a salad, fruit, rolls. You could bring the chicken cold. They could always heat up if they wanted it heated up.

Butternut squash or tomato soup and cob salad and some fresh bread with butter

Spaghetti Squash gratin. It's light in terms of being mostly veg, but it has a heartier feel to it, too. Maybe her toddler will even think the squash is noodles.

"nice" sandwiches. good bread or rolls, small jars of mayo/mustard, cornichons, olives, some tuna sald or chicken curry salad; a package of coleslaw, some sliced cold cuts and cheeses.
