Spotting after HPT

Anonymous
I just got positive pregnancy test 3 days ago (Saturday). On Sunday, I noticed a little bit of brown discharge (one time, when I wiped) - it almost looked like brown-tinged cervical mucus. Nothing yesterday, but again today I noticed a bit of it after I wiped after peeing. I've got a call into my OB, but just wondering if anyone had similar experience and whether this is normal? Seems a bit late for it to be implantation bleeding since I am now 12 dpo. Thanks.

It's implantation bleeding, right on schedule.

agree that it is implantation bleeding. I had same issues with both pregnancies 1 and 2, I would only worry if you have any red bleeding with cramping. Good luck and congrats!

Implantation bleeding usually takes place about 7-10 days after conception - way too early for a HPT.

It's most likely some torn blood vessels - very common. There are a TON of capillaries/blood vessels forming since the blastocyte is already imbedded into the uterine wall.

Some of these capillaries and blood vessels are thin and can easily burst which shows up later as brown tinge cervical mucous (dead blood cells).

As long as there isn't a lot and no cramping/discomfort, don't worry about. In fact, you may experience it again later on as the blastocyte becomes bigger and your body revs up for a baby.

I called my midwife about it and she had me come in and do an early exam. She was able to determine that the spotting was coming from outside the uterus, a very good sign. Definitely worth getting checked out. Good luck and congrats!
