2023 Boys Private School Results /Game Schedules/ Commentary

This was a down year for IAC. GP was only strong team and their best win of the year was against the 5th best team in MIAA. Down year for DMV lacrosse in general.

8-4 game the first time they played. St. John’s has their #1 long pole and #1 SSDM back. They didn’t play the 1st game. Doubt PVI will score double digits.

Eyeball test says Prep goes 2-0 next week, but things can change the second times teams meet. Trust your eyes on this one.

EHS / Landon
Questions: Will EHS continue their run or will the IAC blue bloods on Wilson Lane advance? Was Landon's offensive outburst against StA an anomaly or do the pieces finally fit? Can they solve EHS zone?
Answer: Hard to buy stock in Landon's offense after one performance against an Albans team that wanted to get to beach week early after trust funds took hits in a tough market week, but expect a closer game than the first time around. Pressure turns to EHS in a closer game, but their pace of play and goaltending is well suited for stress.
Result: EHS 12 - Landon 10 behind 17 saves from EHS goalie.

Bullis / Prep
Questions: Did the drubbing last week shake this Bullis team out of a lethargic second half of the season? Is it simply Prep's year?
Answer: Believe what we've seen all year out of an inconsistent Bullis and cohesive Prep.
Result: Prep 15 - Bullis 8 and Bellistri gets active in the transfer portal.

WCAC Final Thoughts:
Questions: Can PVI play a complete defensive game against SJC? Is SJC's great triumvirate (goalie, fogo, attack) just too much to handle?
Answer: SJC isn't what there were last year, but they find ways to win games and no DC area moment has been too big for them; Speaks and Co. just win DC games, period. PVI proved more disciplined than the Eye Street hooligans yesterday but mistakes will cost them against the Johnnies.
Result: SJC 11 - PVI 8 and Prep dads get super active on these forums. Speaks enjoys a strong drink of his choice while doing dramatic readings of the angry posts.

A lot going on in this post. My take:

EHS/Landon - Think STA is more bad than Landon is good. EHS wins just as easily at home as they did on the road versus Landon. EHS 14- Landon 7.

Prep/Bullis - Won’t be as bad as on national television but this is Prep’s year. Prep 14 - Bullis 8.

SJC/PVI - SJC out to prove their value, PVI spent after big win against GZ. SJC 15 - PVI 4.

Prep beat Loyola Blakefield who is currently number 2 in the MIAA standings

MIAA is not as strong as they used to be. Good win but let’s not blow it out of proportion.

Coach Speaks has only missed 1 Championship Game since taking over at St. John’s in 2017.

The 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026 Class have never missed a Championship game since attending St. John’s.

Is this accurate?

GP played three top 25 teams all year and went 1-2 (beat Loyola-Blakefield). SJC played three top 25 teams and went 1-2 (beat Boys Latin). Down year for DC.

Nah. All competitive games. Seems the trend is that WCAC and IAC beat the MIAA ranked teams they played. Other games were from out of state or country.

Except Prep lost to STM. St. John’s hasn’t lost a game in the DMV is years.

SJC barely beat gonzaga 11-10 two weeks ago. PVI easy handled Gonzaga Friday. SJC is over rated and will lose in the ‘ship.

That was the day of torrential downpours. Same day Landon beat STA by 4 and then beat them by 12 when the weather was nicer. Can’t draw any conclusions.

Mr. Compare scores is the same guy that wants to compare prep scores until it’s time to compare prep against Gonzaga. Clown.

Tuesday is coming. We will see if he is wrong again about St. John’s.
