47% Pay ZERO Federal Income Tax, How do you feel about representation and no taxation?

Through in lots of Federal government programs too.

If I'd have to pick, I'd pick paying taxes rather than making less than 50K. Of course, that's just me.

I guess FICA and sales taxes just don't count as taxes.

Get real OP.

FICA is not a tax it is money the payer is supposed to get back .

It's money a taxpayer making under $50k won't see again until he/she is 65, and is used to support current retirees (many of whom are now wealthy.)

How is it distorting things to point out that most of these 47% who pay zero income tax are paying FICA and sales taxes, and that many income tax payers pay more in FICA/sales tax than they do in income tax?

Totally cool with it. I'm very much in favor of redistribution of income, although I do want it done in a smart manner, and that part can be difficult. But someone who doesn't pay anything for 5 years while they are poor or in school may be the person who goes on to become a physician and pay a ton in taxes. That's what's so great about this country. I don't know what that's so difficult to understand.

And then there is Tim, the tax cheat, Geitner who is at the top of the current administration.

How much did he pay in interest and penalties for his cheating?

Did he just go to the special waiver line for Obama buddies like on the OH SO SACRED health care legislation.

Sorry, lots of questions at once.
