Infertility Support and Discussion
I have heard that ibuprofen can interfere with implantation. Has anyone heard this from a reputable source? I'm TTC and I just had a painful dental procedure. Thanks!!!!
I don't think you're supposed to take ibuprofen while pregnant. Tylenol is the "drug of choice" during pregnancy. Not sure if it affects implantation though.
REs always tell you not to take Advil or Motrin. According to them it could potentially interfere with implantation. OB's also tell you that Tylenol is your only choice for pain.
OP here -- thanks!
Ibuprofen is a prostaglandin inhibitor, and prostaglandins help implantation. That is why you are told to stay away from it while trying to conceive. Now, when pregnant...it can interfere with the ductus arteriosis in the third trimester (the hole in the heart that shunts blood from one side to the other), which closes shortly after birth when baby starts breathing on his/her own.
