Is this dress fun/cute at all or just totally workish?

A couple of times a year I tag along with my DH on a work trip that is basically a networking weekend at a fancy resort. There's usually a dinner and it's a pretty festive atmosphere, plus it is usually someplace warmer than DC so people tend to wear cute spring/summery stuff. Of course, these are people who know my DH professionally so it's not the time to be pushing any envelopes fashion-wise. We have one of these trips coming up and I need something to wear.
I love this dress (link below) in the navy/white combination, but I can't decide if it's too boring and workish for what is essentially a social event. I feel like the beading at the top might make it more fun, but is that enough to overcome the conservative style and color combo? | based on the feed back on DCUM- I don't think people actually clicked on the Navy dress. I think the Navy is to business / work for the event you described. Also for Boden, I really value the reviews and people were not thrilled with the cut. |

I agree that the stripes are more resort-style than the navy and white color-blocked version.

| I like the blue oceany one better also. The navy and white one does look more professional. However, with the right casual accessories I think it would ok for a resort. |

You should check out Milly dresses. Milly has a lot of stylish and cute but still somewhat conservative dresses. They are like a more fashionable version of what you picked. They are a little more pricey though. I love Milly!
