would love to hear about experiences at Ross elementary

Anonymous
hi, all.

Reed is the in-bounds school for our DS. but we are geographically much closer to Ross (which has higher test scores).

I'd love to hear from parents whose kids go/have gone to Ross. impressions? concerns? positive/negative experiences?

thanks!

We know several families with children at Ross, and they like or love it. But, these are all younger families (1st grade and below). You should not expect to get in, even with geographic preference. It is a small school with very limited enrollment.

The biggest problems, IMO, 1) white flight as the classes get older, 2) high principal turnover, 3) terrible after school program. The best things, 1) very active PTA, 2) small size, 3) flexibility/accommodation for advanced readers.

I don't think there is enough time for outdoor play and there seems to be, IMO, unnecessary academic work in the younger grades.
