Unique, Boutique summer camp for kids ages 10-18

I am a parent in Washington DC and want to introduce you to a fantastic, high quality summer camp experience that can truly change your tween/teen's whole outlook on life and on the world around us. It is the perfect antidote to stressed-out, over-programed summers in the city.

Hawk Circle Wilderness Education runs high quality, exclusive and small ( 12-15 participants maximum ) summer camps that focus on personal growth, environmental awareness and a deep connection with nature.

Campers sleep in comfortable cabins in a beautiful, 200-acre setting of woods, fields and wetlands. They learn the old ways of using the bounty of nature to provide all that they need for survival, education and joyful community.

New skills may include tracking animals, gathering edible plants, matchless fires, flint knapping, brush shelters, and identifying good sources of fresh water. Fun and fellowship come through campfires, games, river walks, stargazing and sitting together to make jewelry, bowls or tools from natural materials. These are just a few examples of the unique experiences that Hawk Circle offers.

Camp director Ricardo Sierra and his accomplished staff have been delivering this high quality camp experience to small groups of young people for 20 years. Waldorf Schools from around the country in particular have chosen Hawk Circle for their school retreat programs. Families who discover this gem of a program return year after year.

Our programs have developed through a deep spiritual foundation that is understated, based on the belief that true spiritual awareness grows through listening to one’s heart and time spent in nature. We have no dogma and no agenda, except to awaken our senses and focus on being present and appreciative of the gifts and wonder that is life.—Ricardo Sierra

Sounds like an advertisement to me . . .

I am the op and have a personal connection with Hawk Circle--I used to work there. I have 3 kids and live in dc now. Hawk Circle is tiny but does fantastic work. They don't have much of an advertising budget and mostly attract campers through word of mouth or through their.rite.of passage programs for waldorf schools.

So this posting is a sincere effort to introduce a great program to people who might otherwise miss it. Advertising, perhaps, but more of a personal outreach to by fellow dc parents.
