What is Your Four Year Old's Day Like?

I'm mostly interested in those who still have their kids in day care, but preschool experience is fine, too. My child just moved into the 4s room at a NAEYC accredited day care (if that matters, but it does have a defined preschool curriculum). It unfortunately sounds pretty drill and kill to me, and I was hoping for a little less emphasis on academics. Are most 4s classes like this? On the other hand, I've toured some places that are much more play-based, and they don't seem to do much academic work at all. I guess I was hoping for something in between.
