What happened to the threads about tuition increases at Beauvoir?

Anonymous
I gather from a quick search that the information given in the first thread was incorrect, but I'm surprised they disappeared. Did things take an odd turn?

There was no reason to continue a thread based on false information. That just spreads confusion.

But wasn't there was a second thread correcting the information? I do think tuition increases are of fairly broad interest.

so....if you are interested, you can post a new thread asking people to report the tuition increases at their schools this year...

Wow. This is a really slippery slope, Jeff. Are you now going to pull every thread that has misinformation? I can think of a number of threads in the past that are purely based on gossip and later proved to have "misinformation".
Anonymous
Well Jeff is safe here because the tuition either went up 17 percent or didn't. That's just a cold hard fact. I wish it were that easy to know down the rest of the crap that people post on this site.

Are you arguing that there should be a thread here with the subject saying that Beauvoir's tuition went up by several times more than it actually did?

As a previous poster said, if you want to discuss tuition increases, you are free to create a thread on that topic.

I trust Jeff's judgment to distinguish what's deliberate misinformation vs. mistakenly inaccurate information vs. disputed information, and to act appropriately. Also, only Jeff can tell for sure, but it sure looked to me like some of the posts from the deleted Beauvoir thread were sock-puppets trying to create a ruckus based on the false premise of a 17% tuition increase.

JStelle - do you have a kid at Beauvoir?

That's what I thought too given the haste at which he pulled the thread. As a pp said there is a lot of misinformation in other threads, why not delete those, why did he only delete the Beauvoir thread?

I love the last two posts. No, I do not have a child at Beauvoir. While I have been very impressed with everyone I've met that is associated with Beauvoir, I am a fierce advocate of public education. Beyond that, we couldn't afford the tuition (increase or not).

I remain somewhat flabbergasted that there are people who actually seem to see some value in a thread with a totally incorrect subject. What purpose is served by such misinformation? There really must be some sort of "Beauvoir Derangement Syndrome" if simply removing a thread that has a false and misleading subject line results in these kind of conspiracy theories.

You know who else tried to delete access to any information that didn't confirm to their version of "the truth"?

That's right, Mao Zedong.

Who, let's not forget, was also a staunch supporter of public education. Or at least re-education.

Well, y'all have me completely confused. Did Beauvoir's tuition increase from $28,500 to $33,000 or did it not? Or did the $33,000 cited include transportation, extended day, or something else that made it misleading or down right inaccurate?

Good question. How much was the tuition increase?

Tuition increase was in the 5-6% range.
