Heavy Menstrual Bleeding

Anonymous
I posted in Health & Medicine, but perhaps it could also have gone here. Thanks again, in advance:

I've noticed that for several cycles (not always every consecutive one) I have a very heavy flow. The first day is light, then day 2 is when it hits very heavily. Luckily, thereafter it strongly tapers off. I'm scared to see that I fit some of symptoms that I've read online describing menorrhagia -- in particular, the heavy flow, soaking more than one pad in a short time, passing large clots. I've also read this might be due to uterine fibroids.

Long story short, I'm anxious as well because I don't have a good physician just now. I'm in the TTC category, so if I could find an understanding Ob/Gyn that would be great. In any case, I'd appreciate hearing from any ladies who perhaps have sought treatment/examination for heavy bleeding. Can they check the uterus just via a pelvic ultrasound? Sorry for any ignorance, but any input is appreciated.

I've had a similar experience ever since my first child. Light flow the first day then very heavy with clots on day 2 and tapering quickly after that.

Ask a female family member, friend, or colleague for her recommendation for a good general practioner or ob/gyn. Sounds like you probably need pelvic and transvaginal ultrasounds to determine what's going on and if fibroids are present. I had similar symptoms and my previous ob/gyn dismissed my symptoms as perimenopausal. When I couldn't stand it anymore I discussed it with my general practioner at my annual physical. She ordered the ultrasounds and I have a large fibroid. She referred me to a more understanding gyn who discussed all my options and let me decide what I wanted to do.

Thanks ladies, your feedback is valued. I'm hoping I can find a good doctor. If others reading this can offer any recommendations for a physician (I'm in Mont. Count), and/or don't mind sharing experiences you've had, I'd appreciate your input, too. Thanks for any additional comments ...
