how are the public schools in Ashburn

Anonymous
We are considering moving to Ashburn, but am wondering about how good the schools are? My oldest is in elementary and my younger will be starting kindergarten.

you probably aren't going to get a lot of feedback on LoCo county here. I would try posting this on the NoVa City-Data forum.

city-data is a good resource. I think the schools in Loudoun are good. Just be aware that all the schools have half-day K if that makes a difference to you.

LoCo schools are mediocre quality. Loudoun schools and infrastructure is still developing.

Most of the schools are of decent quality. If you are looking for a gt program, you will be disappointed. Ashburn is a great area for raising a family. Stay away from the Sterling area schools.

why stay away from sterling? Isn't Lowes Island a really good school and neighborhood?

I think PP meant "Sterling Park" and "Sugarland Run" the rest of Sterling is ok to good (Lowes Island/Cascades.) Rule of thumb, north of Route 7 is better than south of Route 7.

Not so true when you get into Ashburn and Leesburg. All the schools in Brambleton are brand new. I do agree about the Sterling Park schools....we just moved OUT of that area a year ago before my DS hit middle school. Sterling Park High is very mixed with income and languages. I lived in a decent neighborhood in Sterling Park, and my subdivision was "tagged" by MS13. Incredibly irritating!!! Many non-English speaking kids there. Oh, and Potomac Falls has the nickname "Pot Falls" for a reason. I don't think you'll have any problem with Ashburn schools except for the fact that they are about filled to capacity since there are so many new neighborhoods.

There is no such thing as "Sterling Park High." Maybe you meant Park View.

And whatever goes on at "Pot Falls" surely takes place at Briar Woods and Stone Bridge as well.
