Anyone out there know how many students are placed on the waitlist for Eastern MS and/or TPMS?
Any sense of how many get in before the summer? Thanks for any information |
I don't know where i heard this, but I recently read that there were 37 kids on the TPMS waitlist, plus whichever appeals are successful. |
Just to let you know, at the TPMS open house this week, they announced they had admitted 138 students for 125 spots, and that the number of applications had increased by about 10% to about 660. They did not announce any stats at the Eastern meeting. |
Hey, if you were at the TPMS open house, can I ask you a question?
I heard from some people that the administrators for TPMS were actually criticizing Eastern and saying that it was not as good a program and that kids should pick TPMS. Is that really true? or was it more of a rah rah tongue-in-cheek kind of thing? |
We were in the wait list for TPMS a few years ago, and did never get in, despite major appeal effort from an ES center. I got the sense from talking to the magnet admin guy that very few move from the wait pool, and he said explicitly that there is no rank - leads me to believe that, e.g., if an accepted girl doesn't go they'll look for another girl, perhaps from geographically similar area in the county.
DS did get into Blair 3 years later, though. |
In reply to the question about the TPMS open house: The teachers were enthusiastic about the program, maybe a little over the top- "this is the best program so you will come here." I did not hear any teacher say negative things about Eastern. But, my child was with the TPMS students and complained that the students said negative things about Eastern. It was a turn off for my child. |
