I stupidly started my first month on the mini pill at 1130 pm. I know you are supposed to take it at the same time every day but I can't stay awake past 10pm these days. How do you switch the time of taking the pill? Or do I wait until I finish this month and start taking the next month at 10pm? Anyone been in the same situation? I would call my on but hate the hold times especially with a screaming newborn.
It doesn't have to be the exact same time. The next time you are taking it just choose when you would like your new time to be.

It has to be the exact same time. Numerous people (me included) got pregnant on mini pill because it wasn't taken at the same time.
OP - decide what you want the new time to be and go with it but I would use a back up method for couple of days. |
It has to be within 3 hours of the time you took it the previous day. So if you took it at 11:00pm, you could take it from 8pm-2am and still be safe - so you should be fine to move it up to 9pm or so since you need to get to bed. Of course, I'd still worry and use back-up protection for 3 days after the switch!
I took it for seven years (can't take estrogen, so only BC option for me) and always kept it within the three hour window - I also read (after much research) that you are most protected within the first few hours of taking it versus having sex right before taking it. Just a thought. . .I never had a problem with it and my cycles stayed relatively regular. I know most take it for BF reasons, so not sure if that changes anything. The hardest part was traveling across lots of time zones and trying to keep it straight!

I was taking the mini pill after #2 and was told the three hour rule and followed it...then got pregnant with #3. Went back on the mini pill after #3 thinking I must have missed a dose on time. So I still followed the three hour rule and got pregnant with #4 while also exclusivly bf. I switched drs while pregnant with #4 and was told that in the experience of this practice (just what these 2 docs had observed, not actually tested) the window for taking the mini pill was closer to 1 hour if you wanted it to work.
OP-I would change your time to what will work for you, use back up for a week and set an alarm on your phone to remind yourself to take it. For the record I'm not taking any chances and get the Depro-Prevera shot
