| I live in North Arlington. Where can I buy fresh eggs? |
| I don't know about local stores, but South Mountain Creamery delivers and their eggs are out of this world! |
| Dupont Farmers market has them. |
| send a kid to burgundy farm. ok, kinda an expensive way to get fresh eggs. |
| Courthouse Farmer's market. Saturdays until noon near Courthouse plaza (not sure if the egg/meat guy is there over winter, but I think he is). |
Are fresh eggs different from the ones in the grocery store? Do they taste different or better? |
In my experience, no. I have bought them a few times hoping they would! I've never tried South Mountain eggs though. |
|
I second the eggs (and all dairy products) delivered from South Mountain Creamery.
Would recommend the documentary Food Inc to see chicken conditions for typical "grocery store" eggs that come from "factory" chickens. Eggs from pastured chickens (not stuck in over-crowded coop their entire life) have significantly higher levels of Omega 3's (good fats). They have much richer color of yellow in the yolk. They also taste better! |
I'm the original South Mountain Creamery poster. They absolutely do taste better than anything I can buy in the store. Fresh and the fluffiest scrambled eggs ever. |
| I have to agree. We started getting South Mountain Creamery dairy delivered over the summer and I will never go back. Their eggs are fantastic as is all the rest of their goods. |
|
There are two different vendors at courthouse who sell eggs. I haven't been since the fall though. There was also a vendor at the Sunday market on columbia pike but I never tried those.
There is definitely a difference in taste and the yolk is so bright. South mountain creamery is great and super convienient. |
| MOM stores carry fresh local eggs as well, any day of the week. |
Yes, fresh eggs are different and better. The yolks are brighter, more intensely colored, and depending on the diet of the chickens, more nutritious. They also have superior texture for baking, or just for eating alone. They also stay good longer (obviously)
I usually get mine from a coworker who lives in a rural area and sells them within a day or two of laying. I will never ever go back!! |
| Yes, fresh - organic or similar - eggs taste SO MUCH better! |

South Mountain Creamery question:
how long do their eggs keep? their milk? want to give it a try, but i am not sure if i should plan on once or twice per month delivery. thanks! |
